A one of a kind concert that no one should miss with leading singer from Greece Babis Tsertos and his band that will pay tribute and highlight the everlasting rembetika (Greek blues) and Laika (popular folk) songs of the legendary songwriters/composers of Greece Vasilis Tsitsanis (Cloudy Sunday) and Mikis Theodorakis (Zorba the Greek). The concert takes place at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College on E. 68th St., between Park and Lexington Avenues, in Manhattan, New York. Produced by Elena Maroulleti from the acclaimed ongoing concert series, Greek Music Journey (Est. 1997), this is a benefit concert for public service media, AKTINA FM and AKTINA TV. Babis Tsertos band is comprised by the distinguished musicians/soloists, Kyriakos Gkouventas, violin/baglama, Kostas Zaridakis, bouzouki, Sophia Mermigka, vocals/kanonaki, Ioannis Tsertos, piano/accordion and Kostas Tsekouras, guitar/outi. Made possible in part by the NYC Dept. of Cultural Affairs, AMMOS Estiatorio and Bayside Diner in Queens.
